BEST Method - Aim

The Aim step is the only time where you consciously point the bow and arrow at the target. Aiming only occurs during this step. If you are aiming during any other time, you are focusing on the right task at the wrong time.

The image you have of the sight and target together is called the sight picture. Once you complete aiming, your subconscious will take care of the sight picture.

Aim by placing the sight on the target. Remember the string is lined up towards the inside of the aperture. The sight should drop down into the gold; it should not rise up into the gold.

If you find that you must lift the bow to get the correct sight picture, then you should abort the shot process and start again. If you lift the bow into the sight picture, then you tend to allow the bow shoulder to rise and lose a great deal of strength and control. You will have to learn during the Set-up step to leave the sight above the target.
