The Grip and Hook places the arrow on the bow string, places the bow hand onto the bow grip and the string hand on the bow string. The bow hand is how you control the bow and the string hand is how you control the arrow. Between the grip and hook, with a proper bow arm, is how you provide energy for the arrow to fly towards the target.
A proper bow hand is soft with good bow control. A proper string is soft with good string control. Keep your hands relaxed and you will control the bow, string and arrow.
Nock the arrow on the bow string with the arrow nock below the string’s nock point. The index mark on the nock should be pointing towards you. Take a good grip of the bow and a good hook on the string.
The bow hand must be high into the grip with the fingers on the side of the bow like you were making a soft fist. The pressure point of the grip hand must be 1” to 1.5” below the bow throat. You are using a low bow wrist.
When the string hand is on the string the pressure on each finger is distributed 50% the middle finger, 40% on the index finger and 10% on the ring finger. Bend the drawing wrist so the hand points at the body by 15º to 20º. The draw hand pinky should be point straight out from the palm. The draw thumb should be pointing at the base of the pinky and almost touching the base of the pinky finger. Keep the pink finger and thumb loose and relaxed. Pull the base of the pinky finger and the base of the thumb towards the elbow to keep the wrist bent. Place the hand on the string with the index finger above the arrow and the middle and ring fingers below the arrow.
Turn your head to the target.
