BEST Method - Relax and Review

After you have completed the shot process you have to relax to allow food and oxygen to get into the muscles and revive them. This is also the best time to learn from your mistakes and your achievements.

First, put the bow down. Allow your muscles to relax, especially your back, shoulder, arms and neck. When you have relaxed, it will feel as if cool water is flowing over the muscles you used the hardest.

You must review of the shot process to get ready for the next shot. What did you do right? What needs to be improved? How will you improve it? After the shot, are letting the entire tension slide out of your body? Is your body getting ready for the next shot? Is your mind letting the last shot go? During practice, we review performance, not outcome: Did I perform the shot process properly? During tournament, we review both performance and outcome: Did I perform the shot process properly? Did I place the arrow into the yellow? Rely on reviewing and improving performance to correct outcome; but know how and when to adjust your sight!
