JOAD stands for Junior Olympic Archery Development and is the youth archery training program from the USA Archery. JOAD was begun about forty years ago, with the goal of developing archers for the Summer Olympic Games; since that time many of our Olympians have graduated from a JOAD program.
All JOAD programs offer an achievement award system based on how well the archer shoots. There are 11 levels in the achievement system; beginning with Green Star and extending to Gold Olympian. Once a month, the JOAD archers have the opportunity to participate in a Qualifying Round and earn their next rank. The JOAD members can advance up to three ranks during their first Qualifying Round, but after that they must advance one rank at a time.
The Ace Arches JOAD program is the youth division of our archery club that provides archery training, classes, practice sessions, and access to the Aces competitive team. JOAD is for both girls and boys of the ages 8 to through the year of their 18th birthday. As with all JOAD programs, one goal is to develop competitive archers who are successful in local and national archery tournaments; but our primary focus is to enjoy archery.
Archery training can get be as simple as attending weekly class, to involving the archer’s entire life and every where in between. Archery training addresses both the psychological and physical aspects of the human being. Aces Archers can help the archer in archery practice, psychological training, physical training (cardiovascular and weight training), archery form, nutrition, and tournament preparation. Coach Herrington can develop a training plan with the athelete and their parents to fit your circumstances.
We have weekly archery class on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The Friday class is at 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The two classes on Saturdays, 9:00 am to 11:00 am or 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
