Outdoor Archery Range

An Outdoor Archery Range can be erected in any suitable space. The range can be set-up in a baseball, football or soccer field, or any space about the same size. The end of the range is about 50 yards behind the targets, making the total required distance about 70 yards. The area behind the targets and before the end of the range is called the “safety zone” and it “catches” the arrows that miss the targets. The safety zone can be shorter, with a minimum of 30 yards. The distance from the shooting line to the targets is 18 meters. The distance from the shooting line to the waiting line is 1.5 meters. The area behind the waiting line, where the equipment is locatd, is where the participants are when they are not shooting. The safety line is 1.5 meters from the targets. There must be an additional safety zone of 15 yards on each side to the archery range.
