Recreation Programs

Ace Archers, Inc. offers two different types of archery recreation programs, in shop programs and community programs run through city & town's recreation departments.

Our in shop recreation programs happen in our archery shop (at 131 Morse St., Foxboro, MA). The in shop recreation programs allow the participants to learn the basics of archery over four days during two hour classes. The program are run by our coaching staff and includes all equipment. You will use our rental bows, arrows, arm guards and quivers. You will receive your own finger tab (that protects your fingers while shooting). Everyone starts shooting at 9 meters and then, when you have learned enough, you move up to 18 meters. There are achievement awards distributed on the last day of the program.

Community Programs are the easiest way for a city or town to introduce archery in an educational or recreational setting. A program provides instruction in proper archery technique and safety through a package of lessons. Lessons are packaged in two ways – a five day program, two hours per day, Monday through Friday – Or as a six week course, one time per week for two hours per lesson. During the Recreation Program, achievement awards are given to the archers as they progress through the archery ranks. Archer Programs provide the most thorough way of safely learning archery technique.

Ace Archers provides all the required equipment and instruction for an Community Program. A half hour before the lesson begins, Ace Archers staff set up the archery range, including the bows, bow stand, arrows, arrow stand, quivers, arm guards, targets, target butts, shooting lines, safety line, and archery netting (indoor programs only). During the lesson, our National Archery Association qualified instructors provide professional coaching and class management. After the lesson is completed, the staff uses about thirty minutes packing the archery range back into our vehicle.

All Ace Archers instructors are certified by the USA Archery, the national governing body for Olympic Archery in the United States. The lessons are always controlled by a Level II Instructor or above. Assistants instructors are at least a Level I instructor. Our lead instructor is a Level IV National Archery Coach and Regional High Performance Coach.

The USA Archery has certified Ace Archers as a JOAD club. JOAD is the Junior Olympic Archery Development program which is intended to provide safe and complete archery instruction to the general public. In the forty years of the JOAD program there have been no serious accidents. JOAD certification is awarded on an annual basis.
