Outdoor Nationals Prep Camp

The 2016 Outdoor Nationals Prep Camp is for archers that want to get in a lot of practice before the outdoor tournaments like the Outdoor Nationals! The camp runs from 6/28/2016 – 7/1/2016 9:00 am to 4:00 pm – Tuesday – Friday.

We will be shooting about 200 arrows a day, including a 72 arrow Qualification Round in the afternoon.

In addition to shooting lots of arrows we will be cover several topics for going to outdoor tournament including:

  • Shooting Outdoor National Distances – Dealing with the wind & rain
  • Exercise & Stretching
  • Nutrition
  • Tournament Preparation

Everyday we start off with some aerobic exercise, stretching and some light calisthenics. The we move into blank bale shooting to help develop your archery form. Next we shoot your Outdoor National Distance for practice. In the early afternoon, just after lunch and some warm-up we shoot the 72 arrow Qualification Round.

We will have breaks at 10:30 am and 2:00 pm. We have a lunch break at noon to 12:30 pm. We highly recommend that you bring healthy snacks and a good brown bag lunch. We have ice chests available for your snacks and lunch. We have water and cups available to keep everyone hydrated.

You will need to be prepared for Outdoor Nationals Prep Camp, Please make sure your bow is tuned and that your arrows match your bow. Make sure you can shoot your Outdoor National Distance and have a reasonable sight mark for your bow. You absolutely need a nutrious breakfast  everyday before you come to camp. You need to have enough archer fuel to make it through the morning. You should arrive early enough to set-up your equipment for a 9:00 am start. We will be on the field at 8:00 am to set-up the field and get ready for you to arrive!

You must be a member of USA Archery to participate in the camp.

You will need a minimum level of equipment.

  • Olympic Recurve Bow, FITA Compound Bow or FITA Barebow
  • Long Rod (stabilizer) for the FITA Compound or Olympic Recurve
  • Outdoor Arrows (skinny, wind resistant arrows)
  • Quiver, Arm guard
  • Finger Tab, Mechanical Release or shooting glove
  • Finger sling or wrist sling or bow sling
  • Bow Stand for your bow
  • Stretch Band (available the first day for $4.80)
  • Form Strap (available the first day for $8.00)
The fee for the camp is $380.
